global poverty

On November 15, 2015, a group of Mu Kappa Omega members met with sewing machines in hand and their hearts to help others. This team of members cut fabric and made pillowcase dresses for the young girls at Kingdom Builders Center - Kenya (KBC Kenya) located in Dundori, Kenya. The team made a total of 15 dresses that will be taken to Kenya in June of 2016. This is a continued partnership with KBC Kenya that the Mu Kappa Omega Chapter has nurtured for the past 5 years. We continue to strive and provide for he 23 children housed at the KBC Kenya orphanage, and to assist the locals in the surrounding community.

The Global Poverty Committee of Mu Kappa Omega partnered with Alpha Eta Alpha pre-medical fraternity of the University of Houston Main Campus to make hygiene packs for the homeless.

The group made 680 packs  which contained handwritten messages of encouragement, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, mouthwash, shaving gel and razors.  The packs will be distributed from a medical mobile unit.
