Greetings!
First and foremost, I am extremely honored that you have chosen me to serve as your Second Vice President for 2009 – 2010. This appointment is a “dream come true” as it will allow me to serve Mu Kappa Omega on a broader scale. These are exciting times in Alpha Kappa Alpha and in our beloved chapter and I am so grateful to be a part of it. Thank you for your support, kind words, and generosity. To our members, you are the “Wind Beneath My Wings”.
As we enter into the next 100 years of our great sisterhood and the 31st year of our chapter, we must reflect on the fact that we have “greater laurels to win and greater tasks to begin”. Remember, the past is prologue. Therefore, we must continue to strive to render outstanding and unparalleled service to the Missouri City/ Fort Bend County community. This feat can only be accomplished with a strong and thriving sisterhood. As Second Vice President, the Membership Committee members and I are dedicated to ensuring that Each Soror Participates.
The membership committee is bursting with new and innovative methods to recultivate and strengthen relationships via convivial events, workshops, and round table discussions. Our Sisterly Relations, Reactivation, Retention, and BRIDGES committees are here to serve you!
Transitioning into a new environment is not always the easiest task. To help acclimate our new chapter members, we are implementing the BRIDGES (Bringing Renewed Interest and Dedication to the Graduate Experience of Sisterhood) program. This program will serve as the catalyst to getting members involved within our chapter and the Ft. Bend Community as well as feel the warmth and the solidarity of our chapter. We are truly a chapter where Every Soror has a Place to serve and to grow, and together we can foster the success of all of MKO’s pearls.
Mu Kappa Omega is indeed the “chapter of choice” and we want to continue to cultivate a spirit to make Each Soror Proud to call it home. I look forward to serving and to working with each of you as we exude “The Power of Mu Kappa Omega, Making a Difference Everyday”!
Sisterly,
Roshanda Johnson
