    National Stance:

The strength of the Black community hinges on the viability of the Black family. We recognize that within the core structure, the Black male, in particular faces potentially daunting challenges. A powerful remedy is to devise strategies for assisting our young males to overcome these challenges to their educational development and well being by providing a framework that will Enable, Support and Provide access, achieve the Economic Growth of the Black family.

    Mu Kappa Omega's Approach:

  • Launch and establish an “Adopt a Family Initiative” to provide at risk Black families (5-6 families), having at least one male, with health related, educational, economic, personal development experiences and opportunities.
  • Create proactive strategies and projects to address the current problems that young black males are facing.
  • Initiate the Alpha Kappa Alpha First Responder Service Program. Partner with local Police, Fire, Homeland Security offices, school systems, American Red Cross Chapters, etc. to develop plans for establishing a disaster and recovery relief training program for Black males.
  • Collaborate with advocacy groups and organizations that support changes in education directed at increasing the academic success of the Black male
